Camp Shakespeare fosters an appreciation for the words and works of William Shakespeare by providing opportunities for children and young adults aged 4 –18 to explore the theatre arts through imaginative play, visual arts, movement, storytelling, design, text analysis, and more! Our Philosophy is to immerse students in Shakespeare’s words and ideas, providing guidance and encouragement. Kentucky Shakespeare hopes that this unique camp experience will promote confidence, open up a new world of interests to your child and nurture a lifelong desire of learning.

The Groundlings Ages 4–6
In this one-week introduction to the magical world of theatre, campers will explore aspects of imaginative play, visual arts, movement and storytelling. The camp culminates in a sharing of their work on the Kentucky Shakespeare stage!

The Noblings Ages 7-10
Participants in this two-week camp will explore the world of theatre through acting exercises, scene work, creating props, and designing sets and costumes. On the final day, participants will share their work with friends and family on the Kentucky Shakespeare stage!

The Revelers Ages 11–14
The Revelers is a three-week in-depth exploration of acting and Shakespeare. Campers will learn about movement, voice, text analysis, improvisation and stagecraft. Daily rehearsals encourage ensemble-building, self-confidence and teamwork, while allowing each camper to grow and explore at his or her own pace.

Frankfort Camp Shakespeare (Liberty Hall Historic Site) Ages 7-15
In this week-long camp, students of all skill levels study acting technique while building upon previous experiences through fun, exploratory exercises including character building and teamwork. Campers will share the culmination of their work on the final day. Keith McGill returns as teacher and director of the Frankfort camp.

Lexington Camp Shakespeare (Sayer School) Ages 7-18
This one-week introduction to theatre teaches acting skills, how to read and comprehend the works of Shakespeare as well as emphasizes the importance of teamwork. The curriculum, tailored to each session and age level,
culminates in a showcase of the students’ work. Kentucky Shakespeare is excited to bring this new, comprehensive theatre education experience to Lexington through our partnership with Sayre School.

The Globe Players Ages 15-18
This six-week training program is in an advanced theatre conservatory designed for high school students. Students participate in daily workshops on voice, movement and acting with professional mentors, coinciding with an intensive rehearsal schedule. The culmination of their work results in a week-long run of a full-length production of the comedy “Love’s Labour’s Lost” on the C. Douglas Ramey Amphitheatre stage. Veteran Kentucky Shakespeare actor and Youth Performing Arts High School drama instructor Brian Hinds is the Globe Players teacher and director.
