Arts experiences to be broadcast over social media from dawn to dusk June 26
Louisville, Ky. (June 23, 2015) – The Louisville community’s unique arts and cultural experiences will be broadcast live and free to the public over social media, every hour on the hour from dawn to dusk this Friday, June 26. The Fund for the Arts’ new initiative, #ArtIs: In Your Hands, is intended to showcase the wide-reaching impact of the Arts.
Using the new social media live-streaming technology, Periscope, the Fund will provide followers an interactive tour engaging the community’s vibrant arts and cultural scene, and showcasing diverse arts institutions, events and locations over the course of the day. Arts experiences will be broadcast at the top of each hour beginning at 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. that night.
The schedule for the day includes:
8 a.m. Start your day with coffee with Teddy Abrams of the Louisville Orchestra at Please & Thank You
9 a.m. A glimpse of the summer intensive with world-renowned Artistic Director of the Louisville Ballet, Robert Curran
10 a.m. See the Fund for the Arts workplace campaign in action at Yum!
11 a.m. Explore a new art exhibit with Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft at Republic Bank
Noon Drop in on Your Friendly Neighborhood Big Band playing a picnic in the park at National City Tower Plaza + WFPK Live Lunch @ Resurfaced
1 p.m. Witness Stage One Summer drama camp at Lincoln Performing Arts School
2 p.m. Learn about Schools Out = Arts In and Studio 2000 with LVA, Louisville Visual Art at Shawnee Cultural Center
3 p.m. Go behind the scenes of the Actors Theatre Costume Shop
4 p.m. Cross the river to learn more about the Carnegie Center for Art & History and check out some new public art in Southern Indiana
5 p.m. Tour one of the nation’s highest rated hotel/museums with 21C Chief Curator and Director of Art Programming Alice Gray Stites
6 p.m. Head backstage with Theatre 502 to see how the Arts are supporting Acting Against Cancer
7 p.m. Gear up for a very special announcement at Kentucky Shakespeare in Central Park
8 p.m. Tune in for a live-stream of Kentucky Shakespeare’s production of “Taming of the Shrew”
During #ArtIs: In Your Hands, donations will be accepted directly via the web by visiting www.fundforthearts.com. The one-day #ArtIs: In Your Hands initiative will serve as a final push for the Fund for the Arts’ campaign ending the on the following Tuesday, June 30.
