Art is the power2giveLouisville, KY (JUNE 17, 2015) – Art is the power to give. $110,000 in matching funds are now available for Arts or culture projects in the region through the Fund for the Arts online crowdfunding website power2give.org/kentucky.

Kentucky Arts Council, Republic Bank, LG&E and KY Energy LLC generously supplied the gifts that will allow for a fifty cents on the dollar match for projects in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

“Every individual is a stakeholder in our future,” said Christen Boone, Fund for the Arts President & CEO. “power2give.org provides a place where donors decide where matching dollars will be put to use by simply making a gift to the project that speaks to them. We continue to leverage resources and connections for nonprofit organizations to receive both the tools and the funds necessary to make the greatest impact through the Arts in their own communities.”

Since 2011, 516 projects totaling more than 1.9 Million dollars have been funded through power2give.org. Impacting 116 organizations, communities and schools throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

“Our motto ‘It’s just easier here’ applies not only to our banks but also to our greater community. We are investing in the future success of our region with Power2give.org.” said Steve Trager, Chairman & CEO Republic Bank and incoming 2016 Fund for the Arts Campaign Chair.

Projects vary in size and scope on power2give.org. By raising the maximum project budget of $10,000, the Arts Council of Southern Indiana was able to renovate an onsite facility and gain needed studio and classroom space. Fund for the Arts sister organization LexArts used power2give.org to raise the needed funds for the public Art installation of artist DeWitt Godfrey’s Concordia in downtown Lexington. And donors made it possible for the Louisville Ballet to afford a portable stereo for their Education Outreach program in Jefferson County Public Schools.

“LG&E and KU continually strive to support organizations that improve the quality of life and support economic development in our communities,” said Chris Whelan, vice president of Communications at LG&E and KU Energy. “With a tool like power2give.org, we ensure that nonprofits can turn an idea into an impactful project that benefits all corners of the community.”

All 501c3 nonprofit organizations in Kentucky and Southern Indiana are eligible to post Arts or culture related projects on power2give.org/kentucky.

“The goal is two weeks,” said Boone. “By June 30th, we want to see a flood of fully funded projects throughout the region fueling creativity and improving our quality of place.”
